Part 1: Select an Organization

In Part 1 you will select an organization that you are (or were) actively involved in and
provide some background information about it
Length and format: Part 1 is 1-2 pages in length Use Times New Roman font, 12 point
size, and double space the text
Instructions for Part 1 (due Unit 5):
Select an organization that fits one of the criteria below and that you are (or were)
actively involved in The organization you select should be one where you perform some
tasks and have some interaction with others involved in the organization, for example:
? Your workplace (full, part-time, intern, paid or unpaid)
? Organizations where you volunteer (for example, your kids’ school or softball team, a
hospital, public library, soup kitchen, etc)
? Organization where you serve on a group or committee (for example, church committee,
condo/coop board, professional association, club, etc)
Write a 1-2 page paper that answers the following questions:
a What is your organization? (provide a link to your organization’s website,
Facebook page, etc if available)
b What is the main purpose of the organization? What does it do?
c What is (or was) your role in the organization? What do (or did) you do?

organization?
c How do (or did) you demonstrate leadership in your organization (think big
or small)?

Part 3: Getting Things Done in Your Organization

a How does (or did) your organization decide what is important? Who is
involved, what techniques are used to decide?
b How does (or did) your organization get that important thing done? Who is
involved, what techniques do they use?

Part 4: Reflection on Your Role in Organizations

Instructions for Course Project Part 4 (due Unit 8):
Reflect back and answer the following question:
a What single thing have you learned from the course content or activities,
your classmates, the instructor, etc that will make you more effective in
your current or future organization?
